Propellant Lab Technician

We are looking for a Propellant Lab Technician to support the development, characterisation, and improvement of the solid propellants used in our propulsion systems. Working closely with the Lead Propellant Manager and wider propulsion team, you will prepare materials, operate laboratory equipment, conduct experiments, and maintain accurate technical records.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is methodical, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with chemicals, laboratory equipment, and practical processes. You will contribute directly to the development of repeatable propellant formulations and the scale-up of laboratory work toward propulsion hardware.

About us

We’re a Germany-based rocketry startup currently in stealth mode, scaling up rapidly to meet the demand for high-performance, reliable, and scalable solid propulsion technologies for space and defense applications.

We are already launching suborbital and ballistic rockets on a regular basis, generating significant revenue and applying our knowledge toward the development of an orbital rocket.

We are working hard to build something truly spectacular.

To thrive here you will need to be comfortable working at pace, with the autonomy to make decisions and execute on them quickly. If you’re excited by hard technical challenges and want a role where you will make a real difference each day to the future of the company, we may be the place for you.

At our company, job titles and career progression are earned, not determined by years of experience alone. They reflect the responsibility you take on and the dedication you bring to each project. If you’re ready to rise to the challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare chemicals, raw materials, samples, equipment, and test setups for propellant experiments.

• Support formulation, mixing, casting, curing, sample preparation, and laboratory-scale processing activities.

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used for propellant preparation and characterisation.

• Conduct measurements and record results accurately, maintaining clear and traceable laboratory records.

• Support investigations into unexpected results, process variation, material issues, and non-conformances.

• Maintain laboratory organisation, stock levels, equipment readiness, waste handling, and safety standards.

What we are looking for

• Experience working in a laboratory, chemical-processing, manufacturing, or other practical technical environment.

• A technical qualification or practical training in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, laboratory science, or a related field.

• A careful and methodical approach to weighing, measurement, sample handling, documentation, and process control.

• Practical understanding of laboratory safety, chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and safe working procedures.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures consistently.

• A collaborative, reliable, and proactive approach to working with engineers, scientists, technicians, and production teams.

Desirable experience

• Solid rocket propellants, energetic materials, polymers, binders, oxidisers, metallic fuels, or catalysts.

• Laboratory-scale mixing, casting, curing, grinding, sample preparation, or chemical processing.

• Propellant characterisation, burn-rate measurement, thermal analysis, rheology, mechanical testing, or compatibility testing.

• Experience with laboratory equipment, calibration, maintenance, or troubleshooting.

• Chemical inventory management, incoming-material inspection, supplier samples, or non-conformance investigations.

• Experience working with hazardous chemicals, explosives, regulated materials, or formal laboratory quality systems.

Benefits and important information:

• We offer top-decile compensation packages, bonuses and meaningful equity, to attract exceptional aerospace talent.

• Every employee is awarded stock options in the company, you will directly benefit from your own hard work and success.

• Comprehensive relocation support including flights, shipping and visas.

• Lunch, dinner and drinks provided everyday

• Free access to shared company housing

Please note, we are a fast paced, hyper-scaling startup. You will need to be comfortable working extended hours with high levels of autonomy, ownership, and flexibility, with contracts structured around a 48-hour working week.

We are committed to building an equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, has equal access to opportunity, and can thrive. We welcome different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences—and believe our differences make us stronger. Please submit applications in English
