Senior Embedded Development Engineer

About SE3

SE3 Labs builds spatial intelligence and autonomy software for unmanned systems. We combine 3D computer vision, state estimation and AI to help autonomous platforms perceive their surroundings, know where they are and operate when GPS and other sensors become unreliable. Defence is a core application of our work today.

We are growing to a team of 100+ people. Join at a stage where you can shape our Hardware Development team, help build the team and grow your responsibilities as the company expands.

Our founding team’s research has received more than 90,000 citations. You will work closely with technical founders and engineers with deep experience in computer vision and autonomous systems, turning that research depth into systems that work in the field.

About the Role

As Senior Embedded Development Engineer, you’ll own the full-stack electrical design of our UAV compute and avionic systems. From architecture to component selection, from first schematic to flight test, you’ll be in charge of engineering the electronic backbone of our drones.

You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and AI teams, but this is your domain, and you’ll be trusted to build it right.

What You’ll Work On

• Architecture & Design: Define and develop schematics for compute, communication, and power supply systems across our flight platforms

• Prototype & Iterate: Build, rework, and test hardware with speed and precision, both in simulation and in flight

• Optimize & Troubleshoot: Analyze designs via simulation and real-world testing, including EMI/EMC, thermal

• Document with Purpose: Keep clear records of requirements, tradeoffs, test results, tuning procedures, and design rationale

• Validate in the Loop: Support hardware-in-the-loop and environmental validation workflows to ensure rugged, reliable designs

Your Profile

• You hold a M.Sc. or higher in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline

• You bring 4+ years of hands-on experience in hardware development and software integration, from component selection and PCB design to microcontroller

• You have a deep understanding of EMC principles and know how to troubleshoot EMI issues both in design and on the bench

• You’ve worked with PCB layout tools and 3D CAD, and have a practical eye for clean, testable designs

• You’re confident with lab equipment (multimeters, scopes, spectrum analyzers, near-field probes) and use them to diagnose and debug with purpose

• You’re experienced in commissioning systems, debugging boards, and ensuring they survive real-world use

• You’re familiar with hardware-in-the-loop and environmental testing, and understand how designs fail in the wild

• You speak fluent English; German is a strong plus

• Most importantly, you’re structured, fast-moving, and mission-driven. You don’t wait for perfection. You iterate until it works. You love building things that last.

Especially Valued Bonus Skills

• Thermal design and analysis for compact electronics

• RF integration and noise suppression

• MIL-STD qualification experience

• Design of battery and power systems

• Automation of test rigs (e.g. SCPI, lab automation frameworks)

Our Process

1. Intro Call (30 min): Let’s get to know each other

2. Technical Interview (60 min): (with Lukas, our Hardware Lead)

3. Onsite Trial/Case (1.5 hrs): We’ll build or test something together, just like on the job (together with our Hardware Team)

4. Team Dinner/Lunch: See if it’s a culture fit on both sides
