Propellant Quality Control Engineer

We are looking for a Propellant Quality Control Engineer to ensure the quality, consistency, and traceability of the materials and processes used to manufacture our solid propellants. Working closely with the Lead Propellant Manager, laboratory technicians, propulsion engineers, manufacturing, and suppliers, you will define and execute quality-control activities from incoming raw materials through to finished propellant.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong technical judgement with a disciplined approach to measurement, documentation, investigation, and process control. Your work will help ensure that propellant development and production remain safe, repeatable, and aligned with the required performance standards.

About us

We’re a Germany-based rocketry startup currently in stealth mode, scaling up rapidly to meet the demand for high-performance, reliable, and scalable solid propulsion technologies for space and defense applications.

We are already launching suborbital and ballistic rockets on a regular basis, generating significant revenue and applying our knowledge toward the development of an orbital rocket.

We are working hard to build something truly spectacular.

To thrive here you will need to be comfortable working at pace, with the autonomy to make decisions and execute on them quickly. If you’re excited by hard technical challenges and want a role where you will make a real difference each day to the future of the company, we may be the place for you.

At our company, job titles and career progression are earned, not determined by years of experience alone. They reflect the responsibility you take on and the dedication you bring to each project. If you’re ready to rise to the challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

• Define and perform quality-control checks for raw materials, intermediate products, and finished propellant.

• Develop and maintain inspection plans, test methods, acceptance criteria, sampling requirements, and quality records.

• Review laboratory and production data to identify trends, variation, out-of-specification results, and emerging process issues.

• Lead or support investigations into non-conformances, deviations, material issues, and unexpected test results.

• Maintain clear traceability of materials, batches, samples, equipment, results, and technical decisions.

• Work with the Lead Propellant Manager and manufacturing teams to improve process capability, measurement quality, and production consistency.

What we are looking for

• Experience in quality control, quality engineering, laboratory testing, or process control within a chemical, aerospace, manufacturing, or other regulated environment.

• A degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.

• Strong understanding of measurement systems, test methods, sampling, data review, and technical documentation.

• Experience investigating non-conformances, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.

• A methodical and detail-oriented approach to safety, traceability, data integrity, and compliance.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.

Desirable experience

• Solid rocket propellants, energetic materials, Elastomers, polymers, binders, oxidisers, metallic fuels, or catalysts.

• Propellant or chemical-material characterisation, including thermal, mechanical, rheological, chemical, or burn-rate testing.

• Incoming-material inspection, supplier quality, batch release, certificate-of-analysis review, or material qualification.

• Statistical process control, measurement-system analysis, capability studies, trend analysis, or uncertainty assessment.

• Experience with hazardous chemicals, explosives, regulated materials, or formal laboratory and manufacturing quality systems.

• Python, MATLAB, laboratory information systems, electronic records, or other tools for quality and test-data analysis.

Benefits and important information:

• We offer top-decile compensation packages, bonuses and meaningful equity, to attract exceptional aerospace talent.

• Every employee is awarded stock options in the company, you will directly benefit from your own hard work and success.

• Comprehensive relocation support including flights, shipping and visas.

• Lunch, dinner and drinks provided everyday

• Free access to shared company housing

Please note, we are a fast paced, hyper-scaling startup. You will need to be comfortable working extended hours with high levels of autonomy, ownership, and flexibility, with contracts structured around a 48-hour working week.

We are committed to building an equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, has equal access to opportunity, and can thrive. We welcome different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences—and believe our differences make us stronger. Please submit applications in English
